A desk shot on my studio table — cork surface, warm light, real shadows — and then taken apart. Every object on it is a separate photographed layer you can pick up and move.

There’s no fixed composition here. Push the laptop back, bring the notepad forward, drop the macarons if you want it looking like a working Tuesday rather than a good day. Eight of the props are smart objects, so your design goes straight into the pad covers, the notepad page, the sticky note, the business card, the phone or the laptop screen — and picks up the scene’s light and shadow on the way in.

How it works

Double-click a smart object, paste your design in, close and save. Move the props around until the desk looks like the story you’re telling. Export. Well-organised layers, named as you’d expect — no hunting, no design degree.

Works in Affinity, not just Photoshop. You get a native .afdesign file with the same separated layers and smart-object equivalents, so Affinity Photo and Designer users aren’t converting a PSD and hoping the shadows survive. There’s a Procreate version too, and an editable PSD for Photoshop or Photopea.

Formats: PSD (Photoshop or Photopea), Affinity, Procreate — every layer yours to move, recolour and swap. Plus a flat PNG if you don’t use design software and just want the finished scene.
